Paper Pieced Lily Card

I love paper piecing! My BFF Brenda still makes fun of me for my "paper doll" phase. I loved the paper dolls that used to be out, I think they were Me and My Big Ideas, not sure now.. and I would hunt for them and buy a whole bunch. I still have the Status of Liberty one that I am planning on using for a Halloween scrapbook page for my daughter Lauran who dressed up as the Statue of Liberty one year...sigh...time goes by so fast! She is 18 now and that year she was 11!

I still love to paper piece though and I love to cut things out. I especially love my SU scissors. They have so far been the best pair I have ever bought and believe me...I have bought a lot of scissors! I also have 4 boys...whom all seem to love sneaking my scissors and cutting odd things with them!

So anyways, enough rambling! I decided late last night to paper piece Lily. It was a big pain, but I really like the soft look that it gave. I used all Daisy D's paper...paper I forgot I had! The Happiness card is from 7 Gypsies and the buttons are Making Memories... I used my SU Hemp twine for the flower middles and buttons.  I really want to do this again, it took about 2 hours total with all the stamping and cutting and layout attempts, but it was fun and for me the cutting is soothing. New Lily card today for our Etsy store...

I  just love this little stamp! And I love my new Fun Fluff and I so I decided to use it on the little bird, Lily's pocket and the stripes on her skirt. She is absolutely adorable!

I used Little Yellow Bicycle - Sharon Ann - Delightful Collection for the card itself.

I then used my coluzzle to cut out the circle on the front of the card and put my Lily stamp that I colored inside so she would peek out. I used my prismacolors and gamsol to color her, as well as my chalks.

The buttons are Making Memories and the flowers on the front are hand cut from the paper I used for the card.

Lots of texture in this card! Oh and the tab on the side is blank because I am putting this card in Etsy today and the tab will be for a sentiment of the buyer's choice!

So fun these cards are - I  fall in love with some of them, but I am also okay with them going to someone that is going to give it to someone they care about!

Give me new embellishments and I go nuts!

I am on a dog walkin' kick I guess! LOL! I got this Fun Flock in Akron and I am lovin' it...the Crystal Lacquer stuff too. This is Robin the Dog Lover by Rubber Romance. I just LOVE these stamps. I have a few and hope I can make more cards with all of my RR images this week.

She was not easy to create...the coloring was pretty easy. I used my Prismacolor pencils and the gamsol technique. I also added some layers of color to her skin with my Copics (still getting used to them). I like how it turned out and it seemed to be just what it needed.

I flocked Robin's shirt and her pup. I then used the Crystal Lacquer on her hat scarf, the leash and the best...her shoes!!! It really made it look like she is wearing black patent leather pumps! Very cool!

I really wanted her to be the main focus so I put her on some light SU Ginger Blossom paper and popped her out with pop dots. The upper right corner looked a little blah so I added some Hero Arts flowers with button and bead middles.

Oh...and I hand cut her which was a challenge. But it turned out great and I am pleased with it.

Walking the Dogs

Mimi - Walking the Dogs - DaNami Design

Well, this weekend was fun! The "girls" - my BFF Brenda, Maggie, Penny and I went to Akron for the Adventures in Stamping Convention. It was really a lot of fun. We saw so many things and discovered a lot of new techniques. I found a few new companies that I am just dying to purchase stamps from and I came home with a few goodies too! We also had the pleasure of meeting Shelly from Rubbernecker Stamps. She was very nice and filled us in what the process is of getting on a design team and/or published. Boy that girl has the life! She was very nice and I encourage you to go visit her blog and get to know her.

Now - on to the card! I love dogs! I really do. And so I tend to gravitate towards stamps that have dogs (or any other animal really - I love animals) and so when I happened upon the DeNami Design booth at the convention, I could not leave without this cute stamp from their Mimi collection. I also had to buy some Fun Flock and Crystal Lacquer because the sample cards that they had were so darn cute!

So... here is my Mimi With Dogs card that I am going to be putting in our Etsy shop today because she is adorable and she met the "store criteria" (basically I keep all the cards that I make on my mantel and if my kids (5 of 'em) stop to say "ooh" and "ahh" I consider it store worthy! LOL!

I colored Mimi in with Prismacolor pencils and used the gamsol technique (got my REAL Gamsol also at the convention at Inky Antics).Then I used the Crystal Lacquer on the dogs, her sunglasses, headband,earrings and bracelet. You really have to see this card in person it is just so cute! Makes you want to touch it! Then I used the Fun Flock on her skirt  - again...wanna touch it. It was really a fun  card to make and I plan on making a lot more - maybe even a notecard set.  I also made an African American version of Mimi. I just don't see many cards out there that are for other races and I think that there should be more. She came out beautifully! I love the polka dots on her skirt and I used the Fun Flock on the poodle and her shirt - lotsa texture here! Hope you enjoy!
